About this Book

This book is a pledge. After reading it, I promise that you’ll not only be free of your time constraints, but have gained more “you time” and personal freedom. Other coaches claim to do this too. But let me prove it to you. And not just over the following pages but every single day. Saving you time is my livelihood. I know what I’m talking about. But we’ll get to that later on in this book.

And reading this has another positive impact. Your motivation and satisfaction at work will skyrocket. But the old adage is always true: no pain, no gain. You have to invest time in the beginning, to read and learn. Read how you can avoid time traps and reserve this precious commodity for the important things.

The first chapters “Warm-up”, “Top teams for best performance” and “Mobilizing your

performance reserves” explain how managers fall pray to the time trap. I demonstrate that your crew are  only ever as good as the pilot. An analysis in the chapter “Diagnosis and consequencees” will help you uncover the intrinsic mistakes in your organization’s set up. And quite often the solution is sitting right in front of you – in your outer office.

In the chapter “The art of letting go”, I describe the art of giving up control and its consequences. Sometimes even a minor reallocation of tasks combined with  the right system (the 5-S-method) can free up a great deal of time and save you one working day a week. Through comprehensive questionnaires and checklists scattered throughout the book, you’ll get an overview of  the performance potential you can start to leverage. Even if it’s as simple as handing your email account, travel management or your schedule over to an employee. You’ll also read how you can optimize your time through efficient meetings, perfect presentations and the right communication to your employees and guests.

Expect to have it explained how you can stay at the top of your game with the help of a high-performing team and stay within  your “normal” working hours too. You’ll find out how to hire your top team thorugh a detailed job profile. There’s tips for how working less and entrusting more yields far better results than the usual “always available” attitude. Can’t be done? Of course it can and the following chapters will show you how.

You can also learn how to guide your top crew like a pilot, motivating them, and in so doing, transforming yourself from a lone fighter to a top team leader. Break free from the army of hounded and frustrated managers. At the end of each chapter, you will find interviews with top managers from both the corporate and sporting arena. All of them have worked out how to escape the time trap.

And finally expect to learn how to step on the gas. Throughout the book we use powerful imagery drawing parallels between the essence of time saving and the world of auto racing.

For now, it’s  onto the starting grid to find out how you can achieve not just more success but also greater satisfaction when you reach the finish line.
